Parents, grandparents and other Braithwaite residents turned out last Saturday to spruce-up vandal-hit Keighley Community Nursery.

Dozens of people joined staff for gardening, painting and to clean up the area around the nursery building on Braithwaite Drive.

Young members of the Mormon Church in Cross Roads went along to help with leader Kevin O’Neill.

Alan Emmott, of Ogden Tree Services, donated a lorry load of bark to be laid in the nursery’s nature area.

The day was organised in response to several attacks on the building and damage to outdoor equipment in recent weeks.

Saturday’s Volunteer Day was organised by senior nursery nurses Naomi Thornton and Vikki White.

Naomi said the volunteers painted the railings and exterior walls, laid decking and removed debris.
