Summerfield and Croft House care homes get top review scores on new website
10:20am Monday 8th October 2012 in News
Two care homes have been given high scores on the new Good Care Guide website.
Families of residents at Summerfield Private Residential Home and Croft House Care Home posted comments praising the care.
Summerfield, in Skipton Road, Silsden, received a top score of five from an anonymous family member for the way staff “went the extra mile” for their father.
Croft House Care Home, in Main Road, Eastburn, received scores of mostly five from five sets of relatives.
They praised the welcoming and homely atmosphere, friendly and patient staff, varied activities, and cleanliness.
The Good Care Guide gives details of dozens of care homes, carers and nursery schools in the Keighley area, as well as thousands more across the region.
Each entry includes the results of inspections by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission.
The hope is that users of homes and nurseries will post their opinions, in a similar way to reviews of restaurants, campsites and hotels on other websites.
The site, goodcareguide.co.uk, has been established by My Family Care and United for All Ages, and hopes to attract “warts and all” reviews of every care home and nursery in England.
Currently there are reviews of only a small number of care homes.
Good Care Guide director Stephen Burke says: “Until now, there has been nowhere on the web to find information and provide comment about both childcare and eldercare, whereas you can easily read reviews about a hotel or restaurant, which often involves a one-off visit.
“This guide provides a place for people to share their views, give real, honest feedback, and add to the transparency of the care sector. The greater scrutiny will help improve quality.”
