Fun is on the cards for all the family at Parkwood Rise sessions
8:00am Monday 22nd October 2012 in News
Den building, lantern making and junk modelling are among activities for families at Parkwood Rise this autumn.
Families living in the flats complex will be able to take part in 12 weeks of Saturday activities both inside and out.
The neighbourhood's "community flat" will also host free zumba sessions for at least six weeks, from next Tuesday, October 23.
Both ventures were arranged after an open day last July when residents said what kind of things they would most like to have organised.
The Saturday sessions, beginning on October 27 from 1pm to 3pm, will be provided by Bradford-based Artworks Creative Communities. Activities will include building dens, making bird boxes, lanterns and festive decorations, and creating window box gardens.
Sessions will be open to children aged five to 16, who must be accompanied by a family member such as a parent, aunt, uncle or grandparent.
Community worker Jo Horrox, who supports residents at Parkwood Rise, said the aim was to give parents low-cost ideas for play.
The zumba sessions will run for 12 weeks on Tuesdays in the community rooms at 2 Leylands House, 6pm to 8pm.
