A NEW exhibition at Cliffe Castle Museum will portray the real-life story of Wuthering Heights.
The display of pictures and plans focuses on the Withins Farms above Haworth and Stanbury, which include Top Withens.
Top Withens, which is now a ruin amidst the wild moorland, reputedly inspired the setting for Emily Brontë’s famous novel Wuthering Heights about the doomed romance between Heathcliff and Cathy.
The exhibition Story of the Withins Farms is based on a book written last year by local historian Steve Wood and illustrator Peter Brears, entitled The Real Wuthering Heights: The Story of the Withins Farms.
Visitors can see original images created for the book, with Peter’s illustrations of the interiors and exteriors providing a view into a lost world.
Complementing the illustrations are contemporary photographs by Anni Vassallo which are said to capture the atmosphere of the location and the surrounding moors.
The exhibition will be at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley, from Saturday, September 10 to November 6.
