A KEIGHLEY chippy owner is heading north to get a taste of a fish's journey from sea to shop.
Mark Faichney – who runs Old Time Fisheries with wife Jane – will visit Peterhead, Europe's largest whitefish port.
The two-day trip is part of the West Lane business's reward for reaching the finals of the prestigious National Fish & Chip Awards.
"It will give me an insight into the process followed from source and I'm really looking forward to it," said Mr Faichney.
Paul Williams, for awards organiser Seafish, said the visit would provide finalists with an invaluable overview of the fish trade.
"We want to ensure that the UK's top fish and chip shops are not only serving up the tastiest portions but they also know about supply chains and have a strong grounding of the wider seafood industry," he added.
Old Time Fisheries, which opened just seven months ago, is competing against two others for the 'best newcomer' accolade in the awards. The winner will be announced in January.
