HIGH palliative care standards have earned a Cross Hills care home a quality kite mark that is only awarded to a handful of homes across the county.

Beanlands Nursing Home, which is owned by the family-run Czajka Care Group, has received the Gold Standards Framework for the second time in four years.

Beanlands provides nursing care for up to 45 elderly people and was assessed by the National Gold Standard Framework which is sponsored by Age UK and endorsed by the English Community Care Association, Registered Nursing Home Association, National Care Association and National Care Forum.

Registered manager Janet Fryer said: “In order to achieve the accreditation, our home and our staff underwent the rigorous ‘going for gold’ accreditation process. We were assessed against 20 clear standards of best practice and a comprehensive review of the care that residents receive was analysed. We also had to evidence that all elements of the nine-month GSF training programme our staff had undertaken had been successfully implemented in the home.”

Beanlands is one of only 183 UK care homes to have been accredited with the GSF award.
