A KEIGHLEY business has staged its first ever "Pie Ride".

Aire Valley Cycles, in South Street, arranged the cycle from its premises to Lishman's Butchers, in Ilkley, as a way of saying thank to their loyal customers.

Both customers and staff enjoyed the ride, which was the brainchild of Aire Valley Cycles owner and former professional cyclist Bernie Burns.

"The staff and I thought a road and mountain bike adventure over Ilkley Moor to sample Lishman's finest produce would be the ideal way to show our appreciation to customers," he said.

Some of the cyclists braved the demanding ascent towards Keighley Gate and across Ilkley Moor, while other riders travelled by road and negotiated the Cringles Climb.

On arrival the team of cyclists was greeted by Lishman's assistant shop manager Joe Smith who provided everyone with a well deserved hot drink, pies, sausage rolls and quiche.

Robin Bradbury, head mechanic at Aire Valley Cycles, added: “It was great to ride with our customers, it’s not something we get to do that often. We’ll certainly be organising another similar event soon.”
