CHARITY fundraising has reached new heights for Steeton-based Acorn Stairlifts.

Two staff members together raised over £5,500 for Manorlands by taking part in the Oxenhope hospice's 10-day Himalayan trek.

European installations manager Georgie Chester, who tackled the challenge with colleague Furkan Sharif, said: "We were delighted with the amount raised and want to thank everyone who contributed to this fantastic cause.

"It's always a pleasure to get involved with fundraising for Manorlands so we jumped at the chance to go on this trek."

Acorn is a major supporter of the Sue Ryder hospice. Earlier this year nearly 100 staff took part in the Keighley BigK 10K and its operations manager ran in the London Marathon, and in the past three years the firm has provided 10 free stairlifts to Manorlands patients.

Andrew Wood, a senior fundraiser at Manorlands, said: "We were delighted that Georgie and Furkan could join us for our incredible adventure in the Himalayas.

"They were both fantastic team members and we are so pleased they enjoyed the experience.

"We are extremely grateful for the continued support given to our services by the whole team at Acorn."
