A KEIGHLEY company is looking for deserving candidates for its scheme to offer a free stairlift once a month for the next 12 months.

A1 Stairlift Services, which is based in South Street, wants to provide these devices to people across the Yorkshire area who are nominated by churches, charities and other organisations that work with elderly or disabled people.

Operations manager Linda Moorby said the offer included the installation of the stairlift, along with a guarantee.

"This would be stairlifts designed for straight staircases," she explained. "We've contacted charities, churches and other groups to nominate people who are in need.

"We haven't done this before. Most of our business comes through recommendations and we wanted to give a little bit back.

"People can get these stairlifts via social services, but they can end up on a waiting list for at least 18 months and time is an issue particularly for people who are terminally ill.

"We're not just restricting this to Keighley – the offer is open to the whole of the Yorkshire area."
