RIDDLESDEN man Matthew Ambler has scooped a top workplace award.

He has been named Employee of the Year by Cross Hills-based financial services group, Mitchell Farrar.

Mr Ambler joined the group more than six years ago as an apprentice in the finance department and is now an assistant accountant.

He combines his work with studies for accountancy exams.

Colleagues nominated him for the award, which includes a £750 cash prize.

Denise Davies, the group's head of human resources, said: "You could say Matthew has grown-up with the company and we are proud of the progress he has made whilst working with us.

"His positive attitude and willingness to help out at all times really stood out and to be nominated by those you work with is a real credit to him."

Other recent award winners with the group's companies include team leaders Rashid Bahadur, who received the Investor Compensation UK Ltd Employee of the Year award, and Nikki McGrath, who took the Debt Advisory Line Ltd accolade.
