A HOST OF everyday services are available from a new outlet next to Keighley’s Sainsbury’s store.

National chain Timpson’s has moved into a cabin outside the Cavendish Street supermarket.

Services include dry-cleaning, key cutting, engraving, photo processing, and shoe, watch and telephone repairs.

This is the third Timpson’s outlet to open in the Sainsbury’s Yorkshire area, joining a cabin in Harrogate and an in-store unit at the Leeds Colton store.

The cabin will be manned by experienced operator Pete Douthwaite, whose mother Julie is employed at the Sainsbury’s store alongside.

Timpson’s have 41 outlets in the northern region.

Yorkshire manager Andy Robinson said: “ I am truly delighted to get this outlet up and running following 18 months of negotiation and anticipation.”

Five generations of Timpsons have been involved in the business that bears their name, with current chief executive John Timpson, the great grandson of the founder.

William Timpson opened his first shop in Butler Street, Manchester, in 1865 at the age of 16.

He had learned his boot and shoe-making craft in his native Northamptonshire, but soon realised that it took a week to make a pair of boots, but only a few minutes to sell them.
