GERALDINE Howley – chief executive of Keighley social housing group Incommunities – has landed a top role.

She has been appointed president of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

Mrs Howley, who has been vice-president for the past year, will raise money for the Prince's Trust during her term in office at the helm.

She will kickstart the fundraising by taking part in the Great North Swim at Windermere this month (June) with colleagues from Incommunities and Judy Waugh of the CIH.

"I am proud to become president having worked in the sector for over 30 years alongside many passionate and dedicated colleagues," she said.

"Working with outgoing president Steve Stride and CIH members over the past year has given me a real insight into the issues and opportunities facing the organisation.

"I am looking forward to building on Steve's good work."

CIH chief executive, Terrie Alafat, said: "Geraldine will have a hugely important role to play championing the interests of members and housing professionals.

"She has done a great job as vice-president so I know she can do the same as president."
