A CULLINGWORTH butchers has taken runner-up spot in a prestigious national competition.
Ellison's secured the place in the traditional pork sausage category of the Q Guild BBQ contest.
The Halifax Road business qualified for the final with three regional winners.
Ellison's multiple-award-winning pork sausage is a best seller at the shop.
The pork is from pigs reared by David Mitchell at Honeypot Farm, in Wilsden.
Ellison's also had its traditional beef burger and speciality Bronte burger at the final, held at the Windmill Village Hotel in Coventry.
"We were up against some of the best butchers in the land so to become national runner-up with our traditional pork sausage is a major achievement and makes us feel really proud," said John Ellison, who is involved in the business with his father Paul and brother Brendan.
"Our success is an all-round team effort."
In the regional heat, Ellison's also struck gold in two categories, with its rib-eye steak and newly introduced fire sticks in a speciality barbecue product section.
