SHAZAD Sarwar has joined the board of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust as a non-executive director.

"I am delighted to join the trust at this important time when the NHS is facing considerable challenges," he said.

"Transformation, clinical engagement and leadership will be instrumental in continuing to deliver high quality and safe care."

The Nelson father-of-three is currently chief executive of Whitefield Youth Association, a youth charity based in Pendle, and was a non-executive member of East Lancashire Hospital Trust.

Michael Luger, chairman of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We are delighted with the appointment of Shazad.

"He will be a strong addition to our board and brings with him a breadth of really useful experience from a wide range of roles."

Sally Houghton, a non-executive director, now has an extended term of office with Airedale Hospital until May next year.

Stacey Hunter, director of operations, has become a voting member of the trust.
