A KEIGHLEY business has won a prestigious national textile industry award for the second year in a row.

West Yorkshire Spinners, (WYS) which is based in Royd Ings Avenue, has again been named Best Brand for British Yarn.

This year they were also runner-up in the best independent brand category.

Richard Longbottom, sales and marketing manager at the company, said: "We were absolutely thrilled to be awarded this accolade for the second year running.

"We are extremely passionate about British yarn and manufacturing, and so grateful for all the votes from our fantastic retailers and customers.

"The WYS brand is going from strength to strength. We have such an enthusiastic and dedicated team here at the factory in Keighley, and it feels great to be recognised and rewarded for all the hard work."

The firm prides itself on combining advanced technology with generations of expertise to produce a range of British hand knitting yarns and knitted garments.

It sources its own raw material which is then turned into knitting yarn at its Royd Ings Avenue factory. A spokesman for the business said: "This reduces the carbon footprint of our products and also enables us to manufacture at a very low cost."

WYS was set up in Oxenhope in 1997 and moved to Keighley in 2002.
