A CULLINGWORTH businesswoman attended a prestigious Treasury event in London.

Sandra Corcoran, a director of Pennine Cycles, was invited to the gathering as part of celebrations marking Small Business Saturday.

She was among just 100 business representatives from across the UK at the special Christmas fair, attended by Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne.

Mrs Corcoran said: "We were delighted to be included in the Small Business 100 earlier this year and to be invited to showcase our business in London was a huge honour.

"It is important to raise awareness of small, independent businesses and Small Business Saturday is a great initiative."

The Small Business Saturday campaign encourages people to spend money with small independent retailers, in the run-up to Christmas and throughout the year.

"It is a great opportunity to champion some of the brilliant entrepreneurs and firms we have in this country and make sure everyone is aware of the powerful role they play," said Mr Osborne.
