KEIGHLEY social housing group Incommunities has been shortlisted for a coveted national award.

It is doing battle with four other finalists in the Outstanding Approach to Leadership and Diversity category of the UK Housing Awards.

Schemes part of Incommunities' submission include the Graduate Employment Mentoring (GEM) programme, which now involves over 35 housing partners across the country.

More than 150 students have so far completed the initiative and its junior arm, with over 90 per cent securing jobs in the sector.

The group has also been recognised for its Employment Opportunities Fund, award-winning apprenticeship programme and commitment to equality and diversity.

Geraldine Howley, group chief executive, said: "We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award.

"We're committed to encouraging everyone to fulfil their potential, supporting the most vulnerable across our communities, addressing diversity, breaking down barriers and developing innovative pathways into work."

Winners of the awards, staged by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing magazine, will be announced at a ceremony in London on April 26.
