AN OXENHOPE businessman has spoken of his pride at taking up a coveted post.
Steve Clayton, joint managing director of springs manufacturer George Emmott (Pawsons) Ltd, has been appointed captain at Skipton Golf Club.
He said it was a "great honour" to take on the role.
"There are exciting times ahead for the club – with work starting soon on the construction of two new holes following flood alleviation work carried out at the bottom of the course by the Environment Agency," he added.
"These improvements will help make the club one of the premier venues in the region."
George Emmott (Pawsons), based at Wadsworth Mill, was established in 1840 to supply springs and pressings to the textile industry.
The company now designs and makes a wide range of spring products.
