A CULLINGWORTH butcher has struck gold – five times.
Ellison’s picked up a quintet of gold awards in the Butchers Q Guild annual barbecue competition.
The Halifax Road shop scooped the accolades in the regional final with its naked steak and beef burger and three speciality barbecue products – a gluten-free sausage, brisket and wild mushroom burger – and stuffed loin of pork.
Nearly 400 products from Q Guild butchers across the country were entered in this year's contest.
The national final, featuring champions from seven regions, takes place near Nottingham on Sunday (May 15).
Q Guild national chairman, Mark Turnbull, said: "Entries for the barbecue competition increased again this year, such is the growing stature of our annual highlight."
Ellison's was national runner-up with its pork sausage in last year's contest.
