KATY Marshall – accounts supervisor with Keighley-based Colin Appleyard – has won a coveted staff accolade.

She has received the Nigel Smith Memorial Award in recognition of her performance during the year.

The presentation was made at the group's annual general meeting.

Katy, 22, joined the car and motorcycle dealership after leaving Craven College at Skipton five years ago.

She already holds an Associated Accounting Technician (AAT) Level 4 qualification and is now studying to become a chartered accountant.

Managing director, Robin Appleyard, said: "Katy fully deserves this award.

"Not only has she worked really hard in the office, but has achieved her AAT qualification at college.

"I have no doubt that with her determination, she will go on to become a fully-qualified chartered accountant."

The Nigel Smith Memorial Award is in tribute to a popular former general manager and director at the company's Huddersfield dealership, who lost a battle against cancer four years ago.
