A DEVELOPER has pledged to ‘bee friendly’ at its Keighley housing scheme.

Barratt Homes is aiming to enhance wildlife with its planting at Vision, in Braithwaite.

Working with the RSPB, it is providing bee-friendly flowers and shrubs around its sales centres and show homes.

There are over 250 bee species in the UK, but they face threats such as loss of habitat, climate change and disease.

Vision sales manager, Dan Hardcastle, said: “Bees are vital to the foodchain, with one in every three mouthfuls of food consumed by humans dependent on pollination.

“We want to raise awareness of the threat faced by bees, by using specific plants, and encourage our customers and other gardeners to do the same.”
