A retiring staff member at Laycock Primary School said she will miss the pupils who have made her work so worthwhile.
Lunchtime supervisor Pauline Tawfik who step-ped down from her post on Friday, worked at the school for more than 22 years.
“The main thing that’s kept me here has been the children,” she said. “Seeing their smiling faces when they come into the dinner hall has been such a delight.
“I love children, and I am going to miss them.”
Mrs Tawfik said two of her own children have attended Laycock Primary.
“The school has changed tremendously while I’ve been here,” she added. “There were only about 60 pupils when I started, and now there are about 100. The school building is twice the size it used to be.”
She is looking forwarded to spending the first part of her retirement travelling to Italy and Canada.
Mrs Tawfik lives in High-field and has four children. She used to be a piano teacher, and still plays the instrument as a hobby.
