FESTIVAL fun was enjoyed at Crossflatts Primary School.

Three days of activities were held to celebrate the school's recent Ofsted report.

There was a funfair and a marquee was set up where the events were staged.

All 460-or-so pupils across the school were involved.

Key stage one children focussed on carnivals, and a carnival parade was attended by parents.

And youngsters in key stage two explored the 'best of British'.

There was afternoon tea and music and literature performances, to which parents were also invited.

Items including garlands and jewellery, made by the pupils, were available to buy during the festival.

"We were delighted at the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection – which judged the school to be good with outstanding features – and wanted to celebrate with pupils, staff and parents," said headteacher Mrs Hilary Craven.

"The children had been learning all about festivals and this was a culmination of their work.

"It was a fantastic three days and the weather was kind to us.

"There was a real community feel and a great vibe."

Visitors to the event included Isobel McKenzie-Price, an editor with Ideal Home magazine, who judged various competitions staged as part of the initiative.

Coun Ralph Berry, Bradford Council’s executive member for children’s services, said: "This was an excellent way to celebrate the Ofsted judgement.

"It is great that parents and all those who worked so hard to bring about the positive Ofsted outcome were part of the festival-themed celebrations."
