KEIGHLEY MP Kris Hopkins has been back to school.

He visited Keighley St Andrew's CE Primary, where he was given a tour and met staff and pupils.

"He listened to views on teaching and school council members had the opportunity to ask questions as part of their curriculum subject 'knowledge of the world' – they learned more about the government and how parliament works," said a school spokesman.

"The children were excited to meet him."

Afterwards, Mr Hopkins paid tribute.

"I would like to thank the acting headteacher for the opportunity to visit," he said.

“I was deeply impressed by the thoughtful questions asked by members of the school council, including about how parliament works and what an MP does.

"They had been preparing for my arrival over the past week by doing coursework and their level of political awareness was a great credit to them and to their teachers.

"I was also struck by how well-behaved all the pupils were and the positive learning environment which exists in the school. I hope I am invited back before too long."
