BAKER Mike has been to Parkwood Primary School to demonstrate his skills in bread and pizza making.
Pupils at the Keighley school helped Mike Armstrong, the master baker at Keighley Sainsbury’s store, make the products.
Mike, who is well-known to visits to local schools and community groups, treated the children to a range of bread animals including a crocodile, snake, mouse and hedgehog.
He also how showed them how to make bread with plaits and other wonderful shapes.
Mike spoke about where the best flour came from, and the necessity to knead the dough to get the gluten working and the bread rising.
He spoke of the ‘traffic light system’ on Sainsbury’s breads to help customers make healthy choices with the products. The green and amber colours are the healthiest.
Mike also treated pupils a number of his ‘crumby bread jokes’.
