HOLYCROFT’s young bloggers have bagged a £300 award for their school as part of the Sainsbury’s School Games scheme.

Holycroft Primary School learned in September that it had achieved a bronze award from the scheme thanks to its efforts to encourage competition in school sports.

Schools were asked to ‘blog’ information about their activities on the project’s websites and let others know what they were doing.

The school became just one of 100 in the UK to win a Competition Pack worth £300.

The Sainsbury's School Games is supported by lottery funding from Sport England, and is delivered by the Youth Sport Trust.

The project encourages competition at all levels, from in-school activities to inter-school tournaments at a local, regional and national level.

Over the past year Holycroft School has taken part in a range of competitive sports football, athletics, netball and cricket.

Innovative contests have included Snowball Dodgeball and curling, to tie in with the Winter Olympics.
