PARKSIDE School students marked Armistice Day with a ceremony at Cullingworth’s war memorial.
Members of the Student Leadership Team were chosen to represent the school by laying a wreath on the village’s cenotaph.
Joining the students, who had been drawn from across the school’s year groups, were school head Andrew Taylor and deputy head Bernard Tague.
Parental involvement worker Majella McColgan said: “The village had their remembrance service on the Sunday, but we wanted to lay our wreath on Tuesday as it is the actual day.
“Mr Tague spoke about the memorial and informed the students of how and when it was built. We then observed a two-minutes’ silence in remembrance.”
Lucas Ryan, from year nine, laid the wreath.
As another part of Parkside School’s community involvement, post-16 students are holding regular coffee mornings in aid of various charities.
The first of these coffee mornings was in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care. Along with other events including an Everyone Wear Green day and speed-dating event, students from across the school raised £152 for Macmillan.
