A GENERAL Election hopeful dropped into a Keighley school to talk about the importance of democracy.

John Grogan, the Labour Party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for the Keighley constituency, visited St Andrew’s CE Primary School.

Members of the School Council posed some serious questions to Mr Grogan, beginning by asking why he wanted to be an MP.

They asked how well he knew Keighley, what he would do for the town if he was elected next spring, and how he would make Keighley better.

A school spokesman said: “The School Council and Mr Grogan then discussed how important it is to be able to vote and the importance of democracy.

“The School Council were very proud that they had been elected by their fellow students.”

Mr Grogan was later taken around the school, where he listened to views on teaching and the curriculum.
