RECRUITING and retaining quality staff in the district's schools will be the subject of a public meeting later this month.

Teachers, parents and young people are invited to attend the event, the latest Public Forum for Education.

Speakers will focus on supporting and developing staff, retaining outstanding employees and attracting more quality leaders.

Michael Jameson, Bradford Council's strategic director of children's services, said: "We have some fantastic leaders and teachers in our district but every school is keen to recruit the best talent available.

"This forum will look at ways in which we can share what works well and the steps we can take to make sure schools in Bradford get the very best new staff they can."

Councillor Ralph Berry, portfolio holder for children and young people, said the district boasted some outstanding educational projects and initiatives.

"This is great for schools and pupils but can also be a fantastic way for teachers to build their careers," he added.

"We need to get that message across."

The forum – chaired by ex-headteacher Michael Latham – takes place in the Banqueting Hall at City Hall, Bradford, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on March 25.
