HOLY FAMILY School’s latest fundraising venture was icing on the cake for its Jubilee Project.

Students from the Junior Leadership Team raised £102 with a cake sale towards the cost of a new sports pitch for the Keighley school.

The school established the Jubilee Project as part of celebrations for its 50th anniversary this year, with proceeds going towards a new all-weather pitch.

The project aims to create first-class PE facilities for the school, a county-standard hockey pitch, and a clubhouse for Airedale Hockey Club.

The Jubilee Project was set up because Holy Family School wanted to leave a lasting legacy for its golden jubilee.

A Holy Family spokesman said that as a voluntary-aided school, part of its capital expenses had always been covered by donations and gifts, and the school was only established in the first place because of community support.

He added: “That the school exists today is a monument to the generosity of the local community in the early 1960s.

“In similar fashion the school and its friends now want to institute further provision which will serve for the next 50 years.”
