AN OAKBANK School sixth-former has taken the plunge to raise cash for Manorlands.
Jess Mullaney skydived from 15,000 feet in aid of the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice, which cared for her late grandmother.
Her daring descent coined-in over £350.
Jess, 18, said: "I wanted to do something in memory of my wonderful grandma, who unfortunately passed away eight years ago. She had breast and ovarian cancer.
"Manorlands took really good care of her. She only spent a few weeks there but during that time they put her wishes first and they really supported my family when the horrible day came.
"Staff sat down and talked to my mum and auntie about the options available. They were really lovely and welcoming."
Jess said she was extremely nervous about the skydive, but loved the experience.
"When we got up to about 15,000 feet I sat on the edge in the plane and looked down and it was terrifying!" she added.
"When I jumped out I couldn't breathe – the force of the wind was unbelievable and that scared me to death – but after falling for about two or three minutes the parachute opened and I felt relieved.
"Once I landed I felt I'd accomplished something amazing.
"I met up with my family and boyfriend and everybody was crying because they were so proud of me!"
