PARKSIDE School’s year 11 netball squad has won the 2014/15 league in their age group.

The girls this year played in the Bradford Senior League, meaning they were up against players from years 12 and 13 as well as those their own age.

The team from the Cullingworth school remained unbeaten throughout the season.

Parkside School teacher Helen Mayho said she was proud of the team members for their fantastic achievement.

She said: “The girls have been fine ambassadors for Parkside for the last five years and many have also played for Bradford in both the under-13 and under-15 squads.”

The team members are Betsy Cryer, Georgina Dawson, Rosie Findlay, Lucy Heyes, Joanna Lawler Rhodes, Emily Nalton, Abbie Powell, Rhianna Thomas, Victoria Trudgill and Phoebe Welsh.

Netball has for several years been a major sport in Parkside School, with several teams catering for different ages.

The school’s under-14 netball squad last December won the 2014 Bradford under-14 netball tournament, beating Bradford Grammar School in the final by one goal

In autumn 2013 the school celebrated after several girls were successful in trials at Bradford Grammar School, one going on to play for the West Yorkshire netball team and 11 others for the Bradford squad.
