CARING pupils at Oldfield Primary School used pedal power to help needy people worldwide.
Youngsters cycled 300 miles, the equivalent distance of the Tour de Yorkshire, on exercise bikes.
And their marathon effort raised £704 for ShelterBox.
The charity provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to communities across the world affected by disasters.
Peter Wharton – president of Haworth & Worth Valley Rotary Club, which supports ShelterBox – visited the school to receive a cheque.
Chris Bown, for the club, said: "As the boxes are all numbered, the children will be able to track where theirs is sent and perhaps learn more about the country where it ends up.
"Each box provides shelter for a family of ten and includes everyday essentials such as cooking aids, water purification equipment and sleeping bags."
Headteacher Fiona Lidstone-Green said she was delighted with the pupils' efforts.
The Rotary club's international chairman, Janet Barbour, recently visited a Lancashire school with a ShelterBox volunteer to talk about the charity's work.
Pupils at Lomeshaye Junior School in Nelson have funded two boxes.
