CHILDREN at a Keighley primary school celebrated the heritage and cultures of Central Europe.

The event – at Eastwood School – included food tasting, making flags, geography projects and language sessions led by a specialist teaching assistant.

And kitchen staff provided a Polish lunch.

The day was organised by the school's culture council.

A spokesman said: "We meet every three weeks and discuss our school community.

"We noticed we have more families from Central Europe and realised we did not know much about these countries, so decided to plan the celebration day."

The council is now organising its next event, when it will host a choir from the Jolaur Abbey School in Kenya.
