PARKSIDE School student Chloe Carr has proved herself a maths whizz in an international competition.

Chloe received a gold award in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge and was invited to join six million students worldwide in the Intermediate Kangaroo.

She went on to become the top 25 per cent of achievers in the UK, as a result receiving a merit certificate.

Lynne Laoufir, the assistant head of maths, said: “We are very proud of Chloe’s achievements in this competition and in maths in general.”

Other students at the Cullingworth school achieved success in the challenge, clocking up one gold, two silvers and eight bronzes.

The other Parkside winners were Cameron Allatt, Lucy Heyes, Victoria Trudgill, James Rogers, May Campbell, Chloe Greenwood, Megan Conway, Poppy Ballantine, Alana Wharton and Ben Ellis.

More than 200,000 students across the UK took part in the Intermediate Challenge, with roughly the top six per cent receiving the gold award.
