A GROUP of five new teachers have started work at the same school where they underwent their training.

They have joined South Craven School after all being part of the School Direct teacher training scheme – hosted by South Craven.

The new teachers and their subjects are: Victoria Burrows, science, Jess Malher, German and French, Megan Moffat, geography, Tess Yates, geography, and Louise Platt, history.

A spokesman for South Craven School said: "For a few years now, students learning to be teachers have opted to do their PGCE training here at South Craven, supported by various universities, such as Cumbria, Leeds and York.

"The scheme has been very successful and is widely praised by the students themselves.

"Members of the last cohort who trained here have all gone on to get positions in schools, and starting this September South Craven has appointed five of them to become permanent members of staff here.

"Unlike other new staff, they will already know many of their classes and be a familiar face in school – always a help when first starting a job!

"All were full of praise for the training scheme, have settled in well and are enjoying their experience of being fully qualified teachers."

South Craven is looking to recruit new students for its teacher training starting in September 2016.
