A "WELCOME and aspiration day" for senior school pupils from Keighley helped introduce them to student life.

New members of Holy Family Catholic School's sixth form were taken on a visit to Leeds Trinity University.

They were accompanied by Holy Family head Martin Hings, who is himself a former Leeds Trinity student.

He said: “The day was a huge success. I was particularly pleased to be able to take my students back to my old college. Personally it was an eye-opener for me too, as it has changed so much since I first attended in 1984.

"The facilities there are very 21st century, especially the 4G AstroTurf pitches, the auditorium, and the student accommodation.

"At the time of our visit the USA rugby team had just landed in the country, and were using the university site as their training camp.

"Our sixth formers, who are only just into the foothills of deciding what they will do when they leave us in two years, had a really good look at how life as a student can be.

“It was great to see Leeds Trinity fit and well and hoping to receive Keighley students in the future."
