A PARKSIDE School student spent part of her summer at a historic college at Oxford University.

Chloe Carr was invited to the summer school run by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) at Balliol College.

She won the place at the girls-only summer school following her success in national and international maths challenge competitions run by the UKMT.

Chloe said: “I was selected as my score was one of the top 40 highest scores achieved by girls in the country. I took part in lessons about new areas of maths that I'd never heard of before.

“Although it was challenging, I feel like I have really benefitted from the experience and improved my maths skills as well as meeting new friends.”

Chloe, a year 11 students at the Cullingworth school, initially Chloe received a gold award in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge and was invited to join six million students worldwide in the Intermediate Kangaroo.

She went on to become the top 25 per cent of achievers in the UK, as a result receiving a merit certificate.

More than 200,000 students across the UK took part in the Intermediate Challenge, with roughly the top six per cent receiving the gold award.
