CHILDREN at Oakworth Primary School are raising money to help hospitalised youngsters.
The pupils began their campaign, in support of the Airedale Hospital children's ward and neo-natal unit, with a hugely successful coffee day.
A small group of year-six pupils – together with a teaching assistant – organised the event, which raised £855.
There were stalls, a tombola and raffle, with two hampers donated by Victoria Turner.
And upstairs was transformed into a games room.
A competition was staged to name the fundraising campaign, and the winning slogan was Operation Play.
"The organising group had just four days in which to plan, bake for and advertise the event," said assistant headteacher, Kath Kenniford.
"It was a massive amount to raise and we are all so proud of them.
"Every year group was invited to attend and the support from our parents was amazing."
