BAKER MIKE made a guest appearance at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Keighley before the half-term break.

Mike Armstrong, the master baker at Sainsbury’s in Keighley, worked with children at the Healthy Lifestyles After-School Club.

The club, which caters for pupils and their families, has run for the past six weeks.

It has been run by Jack Halliday, a Project Hero health mentor, and St Joseph’s learning mentor Jenny McGuinness.

The sessions have covered topics such as exercise and games, balanced diet and healthy treats.

During his visit to the school in Ingrow, Baker Mike baked three different recipes, letting the families sample all the recipes.

A spokesman said the families thoroughly enjoyed the visit from Mike, who also writes a regular baking column in the Keighley News.

He said: “It was discussed that as long as you have a good balance of healthy diet and exercise we can all have a treat sometimes.”
