ADVANCED design students at a Keighley school showed off what they have learned at a workshop and exhibition.

The five Holy Catholic School pupils – Alisha Ansar, Kashif Ansar, James Dargan, Salva Narmantaite and Joanna Sobska – were given the task of developing their own design brief.

Their exhibition showcased clocks inspired by pop-art or the work of artist Piet Mondrian, furniture based on fruit, art deco lampshades, children’s furniture and a rocking chair based on a Chinese theme.

A school spokesman said: "Once the initial designs were completed and prototypes made it was time to involve the general public, and have them comment on the designs with a view to amending them before finishing the final working products.

"Our Design and Technology Workshop was thrown open during one dinnertime and members of the school invited to come and look over the displays.

"The designers were on hand to explain their thoughts, questionnaires were thrust into hands and visitors refused permission to leave until they had completed at least one of the question forms!

"The students will now collate the comments and written responses and amend their designs accordingly."
