PUPILS at Oakworth Primary School have forged links with counterparts in Spain.

Youngsters have spanned the continent through an eTwinning project, co-ordinated by year-five teacher Mrs Hannah Clifford.

The Oakworth children have partnered with CEIP Manuel Vidal Portela School, in Pontevedra.

Activities began with a competition to design a logo for the project.

And pupils in the year-five Leopards class trialled a Christmas around Europe initiative, creating and sharing decorations and exchanging Christmas cards.

The children also learned a Spanish carol, which they sang at a service on the last day of term.

"It was a fabulous way to end our Christmas celebrations and our autumn term," said assistant headteacher Kath Kenniford.

"Recordings and photographs of some of the events were shared over Skype.

"The eTwinning is an online platform for linking schools across Europe.

"It has been an exciting term and we look forward to collaborating more and continuing to be a part of this learning community."
