GREEN-minded students at University Academy Keighley are working towards the ECO Schools Silver Award.
The latest venture by members of the school’s ECO committee was to plant 60 fledgling trees donated by the Woodland Trust.
The planting will provide berries, hedging, all-year-round interest and small trees, and will create a green corridor alongside Greenhead Road.
A school spokesman said: “In years to come they will create a lovely area for our neighbours to look at as well as homes and food for birds.”
The 'ECO Warriors' carefully unpacked the Woodland Trust plants to identify what they were were and decide where best to put them.
On a sunny day there was hard work for the students digging into stony ground, and after the trees are planted they had to be protected from rabbits.
