CHILDREN in South Craven have enjoyed an interactive drama workshop, dedicated to showing them how to stay safe online.

The pupils at Sutton Community Primary School were introduced to the One Day Creative "Dot" programme as part of their e-safety day.

Children from years three, four, five and six explored the complex, ever-changing world of social media for youngsters.

A spokesman for the school said: "They learned about digital footprints, online gaming, digital citizenship, picture messaging, social networking and online friends.

"Our reception, year one and year two pupils had been visited the day before by a Police Community Support Officer, who also talked to the children about the importance of staying safe online and how to do so.

"As a result of Dot, the PCSO's visit and an assembly, by the end of our Safer Internet Week the children had learned about the importance of being safe on the Internet, and that people don't always look like they should on the Internet.

"They also learned that they should always ask an adult if they are unsure about something they come across while playing online."
