PARKSIDE School students are really getting a taste for music homework.

As part of the music department’s new homework system students pick a weekly challenge project to complete.

Year seven students at the Cullingworth school chose to make musical-themed cakes, which had to include the correct black and white note structure of the keyboard piano.

The Keighley News last autumn reported how one musical student at Parkside was achieving success with international concert performances.

Jasmine Colgan won her first classical music singing competition at the age of nine then successfully auditioned for a part in Othello with Opera North.

She went on to tour with the company, performing in Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham and Belfast, and joined the Opera North Children’s Chorus, performing in A Ceremony Of Carols by Benjamin Britten and with the famous opera group Sixteen.

Jasmine went on to sing for UNICEF in the South of France, an annual event where singers from around the world perform for charity.
