CHILDREN from Cullingworth Primary School have buried a time capsule packed with items – including a copy of the Keighley News.

Pupils spent several weeks drawing pictures and collecting photos of the village as part of a history project.

Various things were placed in the capsule which has been buried at David Wilson Homes' Hewenden Ridge development, in Cullingworth.

Thirty pupils joined the site's contracts manager, Mark Oates, for the ceremony.

Stacey Berkeley, sales manager at Hewenden Ridge, said: "It was great to have the children visit our development and bury pieces of history for future generations to find.

"A key focus for us is to nurture the communities in which we build our developments.

"Cullingworth is a fantastic area with a wealth of local history and we want to encourage our residents and the wider community to contribute to its continuing story."

Kate Sutcliffe, headteacher at Cullingworth Primary School, said: "The children have loved collecting items, photographs and news stories about Cullingworth over the last few weeks and were very excited to think that work that they've done could be found in the future!"
