PARKSIDE School became Hogwarts as pupils donned their robes to celebrate international Harry Potter night.

Twenty young fans of the fictional boy wizard had a magical time with events hosted by Professors Charlton and Watson.

The sorting hat put the students into houses, where they created spell books, wands and forgetfulness potions.

A quiz was won by the students of Slytherin house, and the event was rounded off with a visit to Honeydukes sweet shop.

Sixth-formers give up their time to serve as heads and prefects of the houses.

Harry Potter day is held each year by Bloomsbury, publisher of the seven Harry Potter novels written by JK Rowling.

Harry Potter events were held the same evening at many libraries across the district.

The popularity of Harry Potter has continued even though it is several years since the last book or film, and is expected to reach fever pitch this summer with the launch of a Potter stage play.
