A WORTH Valley school is celebrating being the only primary school to reach the finals of the inaugural Bradford Sports Awards.
Haworth Primary School was a runner up in the Active Schools category, and was one of only two schools in this section of the awards.
Head teacher Helen Thompson said: "We are incredibly proud to have been nominated for this, and it is a real credit to the dedication of Mrs Sue Roberts, who is our PE teacher."
Haworth Primary is already a West Yorkshire Sport Centre of Excellence for PE and school sport.
It has its own outdoor forest school learning week after every half term holiday and also organises many extra-curricular activities every evening, including Change4Life Sports Clubs for less active pupils.
Mrs Thompson explained: "PE and sport is embedded in all aspects of our work. We strongly believe the children need to be active and we provide a wealth of opportunities.
"It can be instrumental in breaking down so many barriers to learning, removing frustrations, boredom, lethargy and so much more.
"We have a truly personalised curriculum, where sustainability, food for life, PE, sport and outdoor learning are non-negotiable."
