UNIVERSITY Academy Keighley students have learned that life in the Armed Forces is not only about conflict.

The 30 students on the sixth form’s new BTEC Public Services course heard about career opportunities in support roles within the Armed Forces.

Zenab Hussain said he and fellow students took part in team-building exercises, including using the Banana Bike.

He said: “I've never experienced team exercises like those before. None of us had experienced a bike that weird before. It had six seats all around and I really enjoyed it because all my friends were on it too.

“We also tried some target practice to see who had the better aim and finally we had to attempt to build a bridge using our communication skills.

Students also met the school’s Safer Schools police officers to speak about the various roles within the police force.

Youth workers visited the school, with one speaking about his time in prison and how the experience had changed him.
