BUILDING up their skills were students from Parkside School as they took part in a Lego competition.
Youngsters from the Cullingworth school took part in the First World Lego League, a global science and technology competition run each year.
More than 250,000 students take part worldwide, completing several sections which are based around a real-world problem.
The long-term intention is to help the students develop key skills crucial for their future careers.
The Parkside students had to programme a robot to overcome various obstacles.
They also had to give a presentation that focused on recycling. They interviewed the canteen manager and came up with a solution to food waste.
School spokesman Hayley Evans said the pupils learned core skills by working together as a team to complete a problem.
The students who took part were Jacob Wright, Bradley Wass, Charlie Alvey, Sonny Marshall, James Picton and Abbey Bayliss, while Joe Ogden helped mentor the students.
